Admissions Introduction Thank you for your interest in Doane Academy. We appreciate your taking the time to learn about this wonderful place. Selecting the right school for your child is an important decision, one that requires lots of research and thought. I am confident that after exploring Doane Academy, you will find that we offer a truly unique educational experience; one that prepares students for both the rigors of college and the challenges of life. Why Doane Academy? What distinguishes it from other schools? Our beautiful historic campus rests on the banks of the Delaware River, and offers students a unique PreK - 12 school family environment, with rigorous academic requirements, a full slate of extra curricular opportunities, and a student life enriched by traditions that have developed over 171 years. Doane Academy is not a typical college prep school. While we take pride in the rigor of our academic and extra curricular programs, we understand they are not an end in themselves. Our ultimate goal is to expect and inspire our students to discover their unique potential and to define their unique personality and character. We encourage students to be significant - to add value to the people and places in their lives. Like the world at large, the best college and university want and need more independent thinking, moral character and innovative initiative… the hallmark of a Doane Academy education since its founding in 1837. Very few schools in the country add more value to the overall development of their students. This fact was powerfully affirmed last year when 23 seniors (5 of whom started here in Pre-K) were accepted at 116 of the most respected colleges and universities in the country and were awarded more than $3.5M in merit scholarships. It is truly an exciting time to be a part of Doane Academy, as we recognize our past, celebrate our present, and anticipate our future. I encourage you to use this website, as well as our admissions materials to familiarize yourself with our school. However, the best way to learn about Doane is to come and visit.
