GENEROSITY OF THE DOANE COMMUNITY
Nearly $3,500 raised for victims of the Haiti earthquake

Dear Doane Academy Family,

Thank you for your response and overwhelming support to our recent request in order to help those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Because of your generous donations, a sports event led by our upper school entitled, “Hoops for Haiti”, monies collected from a lower school ice cream sale, and a school wide cash and coin drop box; we were able to send $3338.30 to Episcopal Relief and Development.

One portion of our school mission states, “Since its founding in 1837, the school has encouraged students to reflect on their relationship with God, to seek truth and to be of significant value to others.”

Even though we live miles away from the people in Haiti, it is important to take the time to not only learn about their situation, feel for their horrible condition, but to do whatever we can to help them. When we as adults act with love, our young children watch us and learn from our actions.

Thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Christine Harris
