March 3, 2010 MAD SCIENCE ASSEMBLY AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
During an assembly on March 3rd, we were visited by Mad Scientist, Helium Jose` from Mad Science of West New Jersey. Through various experiments he taught us lessons about air pressure. There were ooo’s, aaaaa’s, and even gasps from the students until he needed some assistants from the audience. At that point, all you could see were hands held high – waving to be called on in order to help out in the activities! Science can be a lot of fun! Helium Jose` told the boys and girls about the after school programs set to begin at the end of March and continuing until May. The after-school activities will center on a chemistry theme. These sessions will be held Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 pm in the dining hall. Students who have registered for this program in pre-k through second grade will meet Wednesday afternoons. Students who have registered in grades three through six will meet Thursday afternoons. Faculty members from Doane Academy will help in the activities.
